Stewart River "Traveler"

15'6" Solo Canoe

Solitude solo canoe This Traveler was built of white cedar planking on white cedar ribs. It has sitka spruce inwales and black cherry gunwales, seat, thwarts and decks. The center seat is mounted canted so that it may be paddled with knees on the bottom. A wedge pad could be affixed to the seat so that it could also be paddled sitting flat on the seat or the seat could be rearranged to a flat position. Shown here with optional kneeling pads (not included).

It is very nicely appointed with a two-tone paint scheme of off-white topsides with reddish brown below the water line. This cano has been used slightly for demo purposes. She is awaiting your beaconing call.

Stewart River "Prospector"

16' Tandem Canoe

Solitude solo canoe This Prospector has white cedar planking on white cedar ribs. The inwales are of sitka spruce. The decks are black cherry. The seats, thwarts, gunwales and hand-carved yoke are of white ash.

The canoe is covered in Dacron, weighing in at less than 60 lbs. It has a double-thick layer on the bottom which is coated with graphite powder/epoxy below the water line. This makes it very resistant to scratching. I have used this canoe for river travel and the covering has held up well. In a few places, though, the planking has cracked from encounters with rocks. These places have been repaired with epoxy and fiberglass and are now quite sound structurally.
